The concerned departments should start projects to save children from exploitation and take strict action under the law against the perpetuators, he added.
Director Programme Mian Abdul Qadus said the law related to children should be implemented in letter and spirit. The social welfare department in collaboration with traffic police should ensure the protection of childrens rights, he added.
DSP Malik Gulzar Ahmed said all traffic wardens deployed on various points have been directed to discourage professional beggars and save children being used for this menace.
He said for this purpose, there is a need to make the child protection bureau further functional, so that rehabilitation projects could be started for children, who are forced into begging or become prey to the beggar mafia, owing to multiple social and economic problems.
